    About our speaker: 

    Thomas began his career with the federal government at the Atlanta Regional Office of the Employee Benefits Security Administration in 2003 as a Student Benefits Advisor. He became a full-time Investigator in 2004, a Senior Investigator in 2012, and a Senior Advisor for Health Investigations (SAHI) in 2022. As a SAHI, Thomas provides enforcement and technical guidance for health plan investigations as well as training and continuing education for regional office staff. Thomas also currently serves on EBSA’s Mental Health Parity NQTL Task Force.

     

    While an Investigator and Senior Investigator, Thomas conducted civil and criminal investigations relating to retirement plans as well as fully-insured and self-funded group health plans, including union plans and MEWAs. He also worked on details as a Deputy Regional Director and as a Supervisory Investigator and with EBSA’s Office of Enforcement in Washington, D.C.

     

    Thomas received his B.S. in Computer Engineering, with honors, from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his J.D. from Emory University School of Law.
