Economic Outlook in Uncertain Times

Speaker: Ian Wyatt, Principal Economist, Metro Atlanta Chamber

Ian Wyatt joined the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce (MAC) in 2021 as the Principal Economist. He leads a research team that focuses on economic development, housing and other key policy issues as well as regularly discussing the outlook and core trends impacting the Atlanta economy. Prior to joining MAC, he worked at Bank of America in Commercial Lending and developed expertise in portfolio strategy, industry analytics, macroeconomic forecasting, competitive intelligence, and risk management while advising leadership managing a $500B loan portfolio. With Bank of America, he held several senior-level positions, including with the business strategy and analytics, industry risk, and industry and country risk groups.

Prior to joining the Bank of America, Ian served as a senior economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics where he led the long-run macroeconomic forecast as well as forecast the outlooks for numerous industries and occupations. He authored and published multiple pieces for Monthly Labor Review.

Ian attended the University of Mary Washington, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in international affairs and economics. He completed his master’s degree in applied economics at Johns Hopkins University. He has two children, Emma (10) and Alex (6). He is passionate about improving the lives of young people through education and has volunteered teaching middle school after school classes or coaching high school sports.
