What is it? GYP's annual Holiday Happy Hour is a holiday themed networking event designed for young professionals to come make new connections while celebrating the holidays with fun drinks, appetizers, and games! Additionally, every year we support a local nonprofit doing important work in Gwinnett. This year's beneficiary is Because One Matters! They will be accepting donations onsite and best of all, they have 3 awesome prizes to raffle in their fundraising efforts, so come ready to test your luck for a good cause! Their raffle prizes include:

A wine gift basket
A $50 Topgolf gameplay voucher
a complimentary private lesson with Topgolf Pro for up to 5 people - a $200 value!

Where is it? Lawrenceville Arts Center (125 N Clayton St, Lawrenceville, GA 30046) in the Grand Lobby and Mary Kistner Gallery.

Who's invited? Young professionals between the ages of 21-35 who live, work, or play in Gwinnett County.

What do I wear? Wear a look inspired by your favorite holiday movie! We will be awarding prizes to the best costume.

About the beneficiary: Because One Matters

Our Mission:
Because One Matters is dedicated to serving the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and low-income children and young adults in economically disadvantaged communities and helping them to achieve their goals and dreams.

Because One Matters took shape on November 11, 2013, within the walls of 12Stone Church when our CEO, Andrea, experienced a pivotal moment during the pastor's sermon. Pastor Kevin made a statement in his message, and she felt God was speaking to her directly. He said, "When you think about what you can't do, it distracts you from what you can do."

Our Programs:
Home for the Holidays – This program provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, Christmas décor, and gifts to young adults who have aged out of the foster care system.

Wrapped in Love Clothing Closet –The closet offers free clothing and items to foster, adoptive, kinship, and deserving families. It also provides a duffel bag that contains emergency items such as toiletries, PJs, clothing, socks/underwear, a book, and stuffed animal for children who enter care sometimes with nothing.

Celebration of Life Events – We host a wide variety of events to support foster, adoptive, Kinship and low-income families. Here’s a list of currently held events:
• Back to School Event
• Birthday Celebrations
• Christmas Party
• Graduation Celebration
• Cultural Enrichment and Entertainment (Field Trips and Outings)
• Laptop Donation

Clarion Club – The Clarion Club is a youth program. Our chief aim is to aid students in finding their calling, preparing for high school graduation, matriculating to college, and/or a career, and successfully transitioning into adulthood. Ensuring students enrolled in the club have equitable opportunities for life success is our only acceptable outcome. Doing so will promote basic knowledge, civic responsibility, moral values, economic self-sufficiency, and awareness of each student’s potential in this country and potential impact on the world.

ABOUT GWINNETT YOUNG PROFESSIONALS (GYP)

Established in 2015, Gwinnett Young Professionals (GYP) is a personal and professional development program led by the Gwinnett Chamber that seeks to engage and empower young professionals through community, professional, and social opportunities. GYP is designed for individuals, ages 21 to 35, who live, work, or play in Gwinnett County. There are no membership fees/dues to participate.
