ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Brad Carr – Partner, Andersen, Tate & Carr

Brad Carr has been with Andersen, Tate & Carr for over 25 years where he leads the Corporate & Business Transactions Group of the Firm and serves on the Firm’s management team. His practice focuses on a wide variety of business matters, including mergers and acquisitions; formation and representation of a broad range of companies across many industries, including professional services entities; employment and human resources matters, including executive compensation and employee ownership and incentive plans; intellectual property matters; finance matters, including venture capital, private equity, and institutional lending and borrowing of all types; business succession planning; and general corporate and business advice. Brad routinely represents companies of all sizes, from start-ups to large private and public companies, in complex transactions and other business matters. Brad serves as outside general counsel for many clients and enjoys serving in an advisory role to senior management and ownership groups in strategic planning and decisions, governance matters and business operations.

Brad graduated, cum laude, with high honors, from the University of Georgia in 1986, where he was elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, in 1989 from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Georgia Law Review and was elected as a member of the Order of the Coif.

Brad is a life-long resident of metro Atlanta area, and a long-time Gwinnett resident. He speaks frequently on a variety of business topics to both lawyers and non-lawyers and sits on the boards of many local foundations and non-profits. He and his family currently live in Duluth, Georgia.

Katie Goodman, Managing Partner, GGG Partners

Ms. Goodman joined GGG Partners, one of the oldest turnaround consulting firms in the United States, in 2001. Since then, she has worked with both public and private companies, focusing in particular on middle-market firms in the Southeast. Ms. Goodman specializes in assessing a company’s situation, determining a course of corrective action that is tailored to each client’s needs, and executing the plan. She is known for both her candor and her results-oriented approach.

Katie Goodman has a strong background in finance, mergers and acquisitions and operations. She often assumes the role of director of reorganization or restructuring officer for companies with private equity funding, and she serves as an adviser to owners, boards of directors and management teams.

Ms. Goodman is experienced in dealing with companies in bankruptcy (Chapter 11) and has successfully worked with companies to restructure through approved Plans of Reorganization. She has also sold companies under Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code. In 2013 she was appointed a Chapter 11 Trustee.

She also serves as a Federal and State court-appointed receiver and Assignee in General Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors.

Ms. Goodman has worked in many industries, including automotive, textiles, finance, telecommunications, restaurants and retail, commercial and residential contracting, general manufacturing, commercial distribution, publishing, government contracting, business-to-business distribution and consumer products companies.

Prior to joining GGG Partners, Ms. Goodman worked for a leveraged buyout fund, where she focused on assessing and acquiring middle-market companies including acquisitions in the telecommunications, textile and industrial distribution industries. She also worked in the food brokerage industry.

Darryl Laddin - Partner & Chair, Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights & Financial Restructuring Practice, Arnall Golden Gregory

Darryl is a partner and chair of the Bankruptcy, Creditors’ Rights & Financial Restructuring practice at Arnall Golden Gregory LLP. He has a national practice encompassing a broad range of commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters. He advises debtors and creditors, including secured lenders, trade creditors and official creditors’ committees, regarding issues surrounding the restructuring of commercial indebtedness and creditors’ rights matters under the Bankruptcy Code and Uniform Commercial Code. Darryl helps major constituents in Chapter 11 cases involving bankruptcy, jurisdictional, and procedural issues. Darryl handles small as well as multi-million dollar complex commercial litigation matters in Bankruptcy Court and District Court (including defending preference, fraudulent transfer and other avoidance claims). Darryl has been recognized in the Bankruptcy practice consecutively in Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, IFLR1000, and Lawdragon 500.
