Efficient antibiotic-free poultry production is achievable... …and it starts with a healthier chicken. Nutritionists and veterinary teams work to implement processes to improve health in all vertical aspects of production such as growing healthy breeder flocks to produce strong, clean eggs to reducing pathogenic stress and nutritional strategies during broiler grow out. Listen in as Dr. Enrique Montiel discusses practical ways to bridge the gap between an antibiotic and post-antibiotic world for productive broiler production. What's a Multi-Point Intervention Program (M-PIP)? M-PIPs take a scientific approach to feed safety, focusing interventions where risk is greatest. Independent research confirms Salmonella risk varies across the production chain, dependent on the raw material involved, environmental conditions and the likely presence of legacy bacteria. Livestock producers increasingly specify microbial quality standards for feed, and feed ingredient manufacturers, and millers implement strategies to mitigate risk of viruses and bacteria including Salmonella transmitting via feed. Until now, those strategies have typically involves administering a feed sanitizer or organic acid feed acidifier at low application rates (1-2kg/MT) to the entire volume of selected finished feed. M-PIP value lies in its ability to help producers use less chemical more efficiently. See an M-PIP in action below. https://hubs.ly/Q02v1lP60

Balancing pellet quality and throughput is a complex challenge. Commercial mills and integrators often face challenges in managing moisture levels, leading to pellet quality challenges, reduced efficiency and productivity, feed wastage and nutrient segregation. Achieving a balance between production efficiency and nutritional value requires a mechanism that improves moisture penetration and facilitates more effective meal conditioning. Milling efficiency aids such as Maxi-Mil facilitate moisture absorption and retention within pellet feeds and help producers mitigate many of these commonly observed pellet appearance deviations. Get the practical guide to achieve throughput and PDI goals below. https://hubs.ly/Q02tMdRL0

Balancing throughput and PDI are essential to maintain milling efficiency. Also, research shows that birds fed high-quality pelleted diets average higher body weight and lower FCR. So, how do we balance it? Join Jose Ramirez and Dr. Wilmer Pacheco today during Midwest Poultry Federation PEAK's Feed Manufacturing educational program to learn how. Not attending PEAK this year? Microbial loads are not evenly distributed in feed. Collecting small samples from a single location can result in inaccurate results. Sampling methods can vary depending on the type of feed and sampling intent but should always follow established protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency. Every comprehensive sampling plan should include the following best practices: ▪️ Ensure that sampling method meets sampling intent ▪️ Collect samples aseptically ▪️ Sample consistently and regularly ▪️ Ensure proper representation of the whole entity being sampled ▪️ Train personnel on proper sample collection
