ABOUT THE EVENT: 

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport continues to serve as the region's leading economic engine. With his first year under his belt, Aviation General Manager Miguel Southwell will provide an update on strategic priorities at the world's busiest and most efficient airport. 

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Miguel Southwell was named Aviation General Manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in May of 2014. He has managed the conclusion of the airport's food and beverage concessions expansion - one of the largest projects in the global airport industry. Southwell is currently leading the execution of a forward-thinking master plan that will chart the course of development for the next 20 years, including a list of priorities that include: enhancing the guest experience, expanding air cargo capacity and building a robust, job-creating international air service development program, as well as several other initiatives - all aimed at strengthening the airport's impact on the economy and making Hartsfield-Jackson an even larger force in the global aviation market.

Formerly the Deputy Director of Business for Miami International Airport and four Miami-Dade County General Aviation Airports, Southwell was responsible for generating over $700 million in annual revenue. Prior to his tenure in Florida, he spent more than 10 years at Hartsfield-Jackson in numerous leadership positions.

Southwell chairs the Airports Council International (ACI) Fund, has served six years on the ACI World Governing Board and is a past president of its Latin America and Caribbean Region. He is also a member of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, serves on the Metro Atlanta Chamber Board of Advisors and is a Board Member of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau.
