Attend and hear Georgia State Senator and President Pro Tempore David Shafer summarize the 2015 legislative session and forecast what he sees on the horizon for 2016.
About the Speaker:
David Shafer began serving the Georgia Senate in 2002. He currently represents the people of the 48th Senate District while also serving as the Senate President Pro Tempore.
In addition to his duties as Senate President Pro Tempore, Senator Shafer is also vice chair of the Senate Insurance and Labor Committee and a member of the Senate Appropriations, Health and Human Services and Reapportionment and Redistricting Committees. He is an ex-officio member of the Senate Regulated Industries and Utilities and Rules Committees.
Senator Shafer is a business owner and investor. He has previously served on the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He has served terms as vice chairman of the Gwinnett County Library System Board of Trustees. He has also served on the Board of Directors for both the United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Atlanta and the Partnership Against Domestic Violence.
He is a graduate of The University of Georgia and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Alumni Association of The University of Georgia. He has made Gwinnett County his home since graduating from college. He lives in Duluth with his wife Lee and daughter Ellie.
