ABOUT THE GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY:
The Georgia Ports Authority is a state authority which owns and operates strategic gateways serving the U.S. Southeast. As one of the state's largest job generators, GPA is responsible for more than 350,000 jobs, $66 billion of dollars in revenue, and income exceeding $18 billion annually. GPA manages the second busiest port on the east coast and fourth in the country. It is also the fastest growing in the country for the past 10 years and the largest single container terminal in North America.
Nearly 40,000 are employed in the production, transportation and material moving occupations in Gwinnett County alone and more than 220,000 in the Atlanta Metropolitan Statistical Area. GPA is the critical conduit through which materials and products flow to and from destinations around the globe.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
As Executive Director of the Georgia Ports Authority, Curtis Foltz oversees all port activity involving the deepwater ports of Brunswick and Savannah, as well as inland terminal operations in Bainbridge and Columbus. Directing one of Georgia's largest economic engines, he administers a $300 million annual budget.
Prior to joining the GPA, Foltz was the Vice President of Operations for CSX World Terminals. Foltz also spent 13 years at Sea-Land Service in multiple positions, and various management roles with Overnite Transportation and McLean Trucking, both in North Carolina.
