House Bill 885, which would have permitted Georgians to use cannabis oil for medical purposes, passed in the State Senate, but, died on the floor of the General Assembly. Although this reform effort is not valid for 2014, as an employer, it is important to understand the implications and how to prepare for what is on the horizon.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Karen Tinker is the Director of the Drug Free Workplace/DOT Division of the Council on Alcohol and Drugs. A vital part of her role with the Council is educating Georgia employers and employees on the benefits of working drug free. In addition, Tinker focuses on the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) compliance education, testing, and training.

Prior to joining the Council, Tinker was a Senior Compliance Officer and Territory Manager for USA Mobile Drug Testing. She has also operated multiple companies and understands the challenges of small to medium-sized businesses.

Gregg Raduka, Ph.D., LPC, ICPS, is the Director of Prevention/Intervention of the Council on Alcohol and Drugs. The evidence-based programs he designed and implemented have served thousands families and young individuals, been evaluated by several universities in Georgia and have won national awards from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Along with his work on the council, he manages the newly-formed Georgia Marijuana Abuse Prevention, the Georgia Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention and five regional Alcohol Abuse Prevention programs.

Dr. Raduka received his Ph.D. in Human Development from the University of Maryland's Institute for Child Study, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an Internationally Certified Prevention Specialist. He is the founder, and served as the first president, of the Prevention Credentialing Consortium of Georgia (PCCG).
