As the ability for businesses to store and transmit data grows, so does the concern for informational privacy in the United States and around the world. This concern applies to both personal information about employees and customers and the confidential and proprietary information of businesses. Achieving a balance between the need for information and individual and organizational privacy is critical.

Please join us for this informative discussion about data security and privacy issues in today’s workplace. The seminar will explore what employers can and can’t do to monitor their employees; how to train your workforce to safeguard your data and confidential information; and what your business should be doing to protect against, prepare for, and respond to a data breach. David Cole is a partner in the Atlanta office of Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP (“FMG”). Mr. Cole is a member of the Labor & Employment Law section and is the national practice group leader of the firm's Data Security & Privacy practice group. Mr. Cole uses his unique combination of employment law expertise and knowledge of technology to advise and represent businesses of all kinds on employment law, data security, and workplace privacy. He earned his B.A. in Business, with a concentration in Information Systems, from the University of Washington, and his law degree from Wake Forest University.

Mr. Cole is a frequent author and speaker on Employment Law and Data Security & Privacy Law issues. He speaks nationally at industry and insurance-related conferences, has been featured on television, and has been quoted in multiple publications for his expertise within his practice areas. He was recently selected for the third time as a Georgia Super Lawyers "Rising Star" as published by Atlanta Magazine, and in was selected as one of the "Top 20 Rising Stars Under 40" by Cobb Life Magazine and the Cobb Business Journal.
