Description of Presentation:

BLS Wage and Compensation Products are considered the gold standard for data on the U.S. Economy. There are many wage and compensation survey data in the market today, but when you are searching for data, “Do you know which product is the best for you?” Do you know the purpose of the data you are looking at? What are the differences among them, and what questions is the data answering to help you solve the problems facing you today? Data is only useful if it provides you with information you need to help your company move forward in an ever-changing economic environment. This presentation will review the BLS’s various offerings that produce information on wages or compensation, including purpose and benefits. This presentation will also highlight the National Compensation Survey (NCS).

About the NCS: The Employment Cost Index (ECI) component of the National Compensation Survey (NCS) is a Principal Federal Economic Indicator that measures changes in labor costs. Average hourly costs for employee compensation are presented in the Employer Costs for Employee Compensation. The NCS also provides benefits incidence data on the percentage of workers with access to and participating in employer provided benefit plans. The survey covers a broad range of benefits including holidays and vacation, sick leave, health and life insurance, and retirement plans..

Chuck Eberle – Assistant Regional Commissioner, National Compensation Survey

Speaker(s) Bio:

Eberle serves as the Assistant Regional Commissioner, Division of Compensation for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor in the Atlanta Regional Office. He began his career in the Philadelphia Regional Office in 1991 as an entry level field economist and worked his way up to a senior field economist in 1998. In 2000, he earned a supervisory position as branch chief in the San Francisco Regional Office, again in the Division of Compensation.

As of 2003, Eberle has served the public and BLS as Assistant Regional Commissioner, Division of Compensation for the Atlanta Regional Office. He earned dual bachelor‘s degrees in both Economics and Business from West Chester University, West Chester, Pennsylvania in 1991, and a MBA in Finance from St. Joseph’s University of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1995.
