On May 18, President Obama announced the U.S. Department of Labor’s final regulations updating the overtime rules that apply to employers seeking to classify an employee as exempt under one of the “white collar” exemptions (i.e. executive, administrative and professional). As these regulations increase the minimum salary threshold from $23,660 to $47,476 as of December 31, 2016, it is imperative for
employers to start planning now for how they are going to respond to this seismic shift in the white collar exemption landscape.
